Understanding IPTV
A Beginner's Guide

IPTV is television delivered through your internet connection instead of traditional cable or satellite. Start by deciding which device you want to watch on.

Step 1 — Choose Where You Will Watch

Your viewing device determines which IPTV apps are available and how the service is installed.

TV

Samsung Smart TV

Install a compatible IPTV player from the Samsung app store when available.

A

Android / Google TV

Use Google Play to install a compatible IPTV player on your TV or media device.

HDMI

Streaming Stick / Media Box

Connect the device to HDMI and install the app, or use a preconfigured NET TV device.

PC

Windows PC / Laptop

Install compatible IPTV or media-player software and watch from your computer.

PHONE

Phone / Tablet

Install a compatible player from Google Play or Apple's App Store.

NET

NET TV Device

A NET TV Stick or Media Box can arrive with the required app already installed and configured.

Step 2 — What You Need

In addition to your viewing device, IPTV requires these three pieces.

Stable Internet

The internet connection delivers the video stream. Strong Wi-Fi or Ethernet helps provide smoother viewing.

IPTV Player App

The app is the player and interface used to browse channels, movies, series, and guide information.

IPTV Service

The service supplies the programming and the login or playlist information used by the player.

Step 3 — Understanding IPTV Apps

The app and the IPTV service are different things. Installing an app alone does not provide television service.

Xtream/API-Compatible Players

Usually use a server address, username, and password supplied by the service provider.

M3U Playlist Players

Load a playlist URL supplied by the IPTV provider.

Portal / STB Players

Some MAG or STB-style devices use a portal/server setup instead.

TiviMate

A popular Android/Google TV IPTV player with a television-style guide.

IPTV Smarters-Type Players

Common multi-device players that support provider logins or playlists depending on the app.

XCIPTV, Kodi & Others

Many compatible players exist. Availability varies by device, operating system, country, and app store.

Step 4 — How to Install the App

The basic process is the same: open the app store, find a compatible player, install it, and enter your service information.

Samsung TV

Open the Samsung app store → search for an IPTV player → install → open → configure.

Android / Google TV

Open Google Play → search for an IPTV player → install → enter your NET TV service information.

Android Phone / Tablet

Use Google Play to install a compatible player, then configure your service details.

iPhone / iPad

Use Apple's App Store to install a compatible player and configure the service.

Windows PC

Install compatible IPTV/media-player software and add the service credentials or playlist.

NET TV Stick / Media Box

With a preconfigured NET TV device, the app and service can already be set up before delivery.

Step 5 — Connect the App to Your IPTV Service

After installing the player, enter the account or playlist information provided by your service.

Typical Information

Profile name, username, password, server/portal URL, or an M3U playlist URL.

What Happens Next?

The player connects to the IPTV service and loads the channels, movies, series, and guide information available to your account. Keep your login details private.

One Stream vs. Multiple Streams

A connection usually means one device can watch at a time.

1 Connection = 1 Stream

One compatible device watches at a time.

2 Connections = 2 Streams

Two compatible devices can watch different content at the same time, subject to package rules.
